Radiator prices will depend on the size/style, but say £160 each, plus around £25 to £30 for a reasonable quality thermostatic valve set per radiator. A Hive or Ring type thermostat/timer set up will probably be another £120 or so.

Cost of a new boiler is 3k plus, so even with inflation you are looking at 20 years plus payback, and the new boiler won't last 20 years. Your boiler needs to be seriously old 60% efficient or less for it to make financial sense. But hay who cares about such things

Mar 11, 2019 · A quick calculation with 9m 22mm copper and 5 bends would be 0.922 mb. So if only 5 bends between meter and boiler then that's fine. But it will probably be a few more than 5. I've now trying to change the boiler but I've been told by one installer that I need to have a long flue that extends beyond the canopy to prevent any build-up of flue gases.

The main extra cost was a new flue in a 2nd floor flat (scaffolding). The British Gas monthly contract for maintenance etc has been scrapped and that's one company not to be used again.

One solution is to turn DOWN the required temperature of the water. This will stop the boiler overheating the water. This won't stop it, as the plate is blocked on the system side.

With an 8 gallon boiler, you're in for a lot of work. My suggestion is a 13 gallon can, or a keg build, start with propane heat source.

We have a 15kw at the moment and 8 rads ( but one is a double) 15kw apparently do up to 10 rads. Would it be more cost effective to get a bigger boiler that won't have to work so hard or just get another 15kw one.
